Repost - Patrick McGorry's Delorean Pulls Over For New Passenger

A lot of interest coming from Australia, in particular this post - hence the repost.

Biff  Tannen and Psychiatrist Graham Burrows.
One of them has delusions about going back in time... the other is Biff Tannen.

Melbourne psychiatrist Graham "Biff Tannen" Burrows [a friend of Patrick McGorry - same university] testified that Arthur Freeman, who threw his 4 year old daughter off the West Gate Bridge, had a "major despondent disorder" [that's a new one!] so, claims Burrows, he didn't know what he was doing.

Victorian Liberal senator, Julian McGauran has called for his resignation.

The Victorian Liberal senator, writes The Age, accused the academic of providing concocted evidence to the courtroom and called on University of Melbourne vice-chancellor Glyn Davis to have Prof Burrows sacked as a fellow with the department of psychiatry.

"I say the university ought to remove him from that position for the evidence he gave in the Freeman case," he told parliament.

"The university's reputation must surely be sullied if Professor Burrows remains in that position."

Burrows claimed that Freeman was having a "tough time" with a major despondent disorder and "probable" psychosis when he threw his daughter, Darcey, off the West Gate Bridge.

In a "Back to the Future" flip, he used McGorry's Delorean to predict the mental state of Freeman... 14 months AFTER he killed his daughter!

Freeman was given a life sentence by Justice Paul Coghlan and won't be eligible for parole until 2041.

"In January 2009," writes Alison Caldwell, "...Arthur Freeman was driving his daughter Darcey and two sons to her first day of school. At the highest point of the Westgate Bridge he pulled his four wheel drive over into the emergency lane and coaxed Darcey out of her seat. He picked her up and carried her to the edge then he threw her off the bridge. As he drove away his son pleaded with him to go back and get Darcey because she couldn't swim."

"Biff" Burrows was awarded an "Order of Australia" [just shy of the Australian of the Year award] in 1989 for his "contribution to psychiatry."

Burrows is chairman of the Mental Health Foundation (founded in Melbourne Uni's Department of Psychiatry in 81); a department that receives funding from AstraZeneca, Servier and Pfizer. Burrows has also received travel assistance to attend Advisory Board meetings from most companies that market psychotropics in Australia.

Burrows is also the director of psychiatry at Austin Hospital in Melbourne where in 2006 the parents of a 30 year old man had to get a barrister to force the hospital to release him after the parents questioned the psychiatrists putting him on Zyprexa: [The parents won the legal battle to stop the psychiatrists "stripping them of all their rights to look after him."

The father said he was told by hospital staff on April 13, 2006, that he would no longer be able to see his son after repeatedly raising concerns with doctors about the amounts of Zyprexa being administered to him. He eventually saw his son for 15 minutes on June 28 — a day after the VCAT hearing — but was again banned because the hospital claimed his visits "upset" his son. [Source theage.com.au]

The Mental Health Foundation issues press releases about the advantages of specific antidepressants: like Remeron [Avanza in Australia] and made by Organon.

Burrows once had this to say to DepressioNet, an astroturfing group.

"While all antidepressants have the potential to cause side effects, such as insomnia and lack of sex drive, in up to 70 per cent of people, not all antidepressants produce the same side effects. The doctor will usually tell the patient about side effects, preparing them for the possibility. But newer drugs, like Avanza, have less of the side effects that cause people the most concern." Burrows added, "...during depression the normal supply of chemical substances in the brain is reduced. Antidepressants work by restoring two of those chemical substances. But they can also act on other chemical substances which can cause side effects, such as sexual dysfunction and insomnia."

Don't they say this about ALL antidepressants when they first come to market?

I've previously highlighted DepressioNet [Links at foot of this article]

Burrows, just like the character Biff Tannen from the Back to the Future movies, is a believer in science fiction. He appears to believe that tests are available to detect depression. He had this to say in 2001...again an article run by DepressioNet:

"...scientific tests are available to detect severe depression....[it] is an illness like heart disease."

Fuck, there was me thinking all this time that there were no such tests!

Here, we can see "Biff" Burrows pitching in with Patrick "Delorean" McGorry for more mental health funding.

In 2004, both Burrows and McGorry sat on the Advisory Board on Mental Health to advise the Victorian government on funding [Source]

Patrick McGorry's time-travelling Delorean is beginning to resemble a tardis with the amount of passengers he is carrying around.

McGorry is keen on early intervention, in other words he wants to eradicate such "diseases" as OCD and ADHD before anybody [children] actually get it. He does this by analyzing questionnaires that children fill in [box ticking]

Burrows, on the other hand, prefers to go back in time in McGorry's Delorean, diagnosing patients with disorders some 14 months earlier.

Confused?

Fear not, McGorry's intentions are all too clear if today's news is anything to go by.

Australia's mental health has just been allocated $1.5 billion. Much of that $1.5 billion will be aimed at early intervention. Here's what McGorry has to say:

  • Disorders such as autism and attachment problems could manifest as young as three.
  • Mental health checks should be conducted again in middle childhood and early adolescence.
  • Checking early means we've got a better chance of picking things up

And here's the real clincher:

"As young as three, we know that infants can present signs of emerging behavioural disorders which, if they're not caught in time, they're not treated, can become a very serious problem in primary school and develop into quite serious mental illness in adolescence."

One has to ask oneself what the fuck are the Australian government allowing here. Have they asked for any scientific proof from McGorry or has he just convinced them that scientific proof is now based on theory?

Is McGorry really concerned about the welfare of children? Well, if he was then he sure as hell wouldn't be recommending drugs that are not recommended for children.

It's like one of those fairy tales with a sinister character, the big bad wolf in Little Red Riding Hood or the baddie in a plethora of children's animated feature length films, take your pick; Cruella DeVille - 101 Dalmatians, Maleficent - Sleeping Beauty, Governor Ratcliffe - Pocahontas, Gaston - Beauty and the Beast.

I never knew the Australian government were such an easy touch, hey give me some money, I can turn water into wine, not a great tasting wine as it passes through the urinary tract.

A hefty percentage of $1.5 billion dollars is heading towards McGorry and his team. Australian parents will get to help fill in the box ticking forms for their three year old, they'll add their signature, which will, in effect, alter the brain chemistry of their children - they will have the Australian government to thank for their baby Frankensteins.

I've read about crazy world leaders who convince an unsuspecting public that their way is the right way. History has taught us all one valuable lesson - check the validity of claims, in this instance ask McGorry to show you the scientific data, fight the darkness with light, don't just strike a match, use a fucking flame-thrower!

I hope Universal Pictures are paying attention, it appears they pulled the plug on the Back to the Future movies too early. Why just a trilogy - there's a new one in the making down under.

If interviewed, Robert Zemeckis, writer of the original trilogy, would probably be heard to say, "Don't these guys understand fact from fiction?"

Apparently not Robert.

No doubt future months will see me highlighting more shenanigans from McGorry and Co... or maybe I've already wrote them next Thursday and will publish them for you all...last week.

What a crazy world we live in.

See you last Thursday...Oh by the way Happy New Year 2021
