My comment at the time was that one could give a patient an M&M, and if they accepted the suggestion that it was massively therapeutic, then they would cure themselves, irrespective of whether or not one decided to tell them that the thing had no known active ingredient. The only explanation would be that the patient cured themselves, and if you think about it, they always do (eg, since when did a drug mend a broken leg?). Why the placebo effect has increased in magnitude, over time, I couldn't begin to imagine.<br /><br />"Waking hypnosis".
