The only test available is for a particular liver enzyme deficiency which, if you have it, will make metabolizing these and a number of other drugs more difficult. If you have this deficiency, it will lead to higher amounts than normal of the drug building up in your system.

This will of course increase the risk of side effects if you´re senstitive to the drug in question but side effects and the severity of them are not entirely dependent on the dose but on a number of other individual factors. There are for example people with severe arthritis that can take ten or more aspirins a day for 30 years without major problems while there are people who can die from taking one.

The enzyme test can and should be taken before taking certain drugs but a negative test is no guarantee. Many people with serious SSRI side effects or protracted withdrawal problems have taken this test and had it come back negative.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10459981.post-42305285783841056752009-02-20T22:08:00.000+00:002009-02-20T22:08:00.000+00:00Yes, that would be nice. But it seems to me eventually we are going to need a group of scientist unsympathetic to Pharma who take it upon themselves to do some open and unbiased studies. And who will publish their findings openly and widely, hopefully being accepted by some of the more prominent journals. As the issues grows and more persons, or their children, are affected, perhaps some of the more wealthy ones will be able to come up with some funding.

I believe we will eventually need more ammunition than simply following the studies that are out there, although that certainly cannot stop. Eventually a foundation for fair and open pharmaceutical studies will need to be birthed. One based on sound science and which investigates individual cases.

A pipe dream maybe. In the meantime, thanks to folks like yourself who spend the time digging through all the shite to expose the issues.Pyrshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16447359297343079282noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10459981.post-8405143778910301692009-02-20T09:55:00.000+00:002009-02-20T09:55:00.000+00:00"...and provides further evidence to the medicine ..."...and provides further evidence to the medicine regulators that we have a huge problem here and the quicker they act upon it, the safer the public will be."

They don't give a damn!
It's amazing.Anahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02889189418315180865noreply@blogger.com
