"The Wellcome Foundation conducted its studies fully in accordance with medical and ethical standards of the time" - GlaxoSmithKline |
Survivor's of Irish mother and baby homes speak out.
In the 50's and 60's unmarried mothers in Ireland fled to mother and baby homes to give birth to children that they could not, for one reason or another, keep.
In a revealing documentary, aired on Irish television, we see how hundreds of children were used as part of pharmaceutical clinical trials in homes for single mothers.
The homes were run by nuns who often punished the single mothers [Gotta love those Catholics]
Trials were carried out on children despite the Nuremberg code, which states, "voluntary consent of the human subject is absolutely essential."
Enter Burroughs Wellcome.
Watch the 30 minute documentary and see how GlaxoSmithKline defend Burroughs Wellcome [1] by claiming, "The Wellcome Foundation conducted its studies fully in accordance with medical and ethical standards of the time"
