  1. I would like to see the studies that Mr Woods is relying on in claiming SSRIs are so effective and their benefits outweigh their adverse effects.

Or that they are safer or more effective than the older antidepressants.

I also think he protests too much about not being in the pocket of drug companies.

The investigations he speaks of dragged on for years and resulted in basically nothing happening to Glaxo, while in the meantime, more people were injured the the drug.

He also makes our jury trials in the US sound like a decision is based on what attorneys say instead of accurately noting that our juries hear testimony from top experts from all over the world.

I resent his mischaracterization of our jury system and his obvious belief that an average person can not listen to experts, weigh the evidence and come up with the right verdict.

  3. Paul Flynn is wrong. Kent Woods has never worked at GSK. The MHRA Chairman, Alasdair Breckenridge and the Head of Licensing at the MHRA, Ian Hudson, both worked for GSK though.

Didn't Ian Hudson testify in the Paxil suicide-murder trial in Wyoming in 2001?

The one that Glaxo lost big time after Healy testified for the Plaintiffs?

  5. Yes, he did Evie.

He still works at the MHRA and, as far as I know, was not interviewed during their 4 year investigation of Glaxo. Odd, considering he was World Safety Officer when employed by GSK

    Hudson is a regulatory official???

This is what David Healy said on Panorama in regard to Hudson testifying in the Paxil suicide murder case against Glaxo.

"Listening to Ian Hudson in court, I have to say that I didn't get any feel that he was actually concerned about the welfare of people going on this drug. But I have to say that it seemed to me that he was much more concerned about the welfare of the company."
