One key member of that meeting was Dr. Yvon Lapierre.
In 2003, Lapierre wrote a paper entitled 'Suicidality with Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors: Valid Claim?'
Lapierre's conclusion?
Basically, there is insufficient eveidence that they [SSRis] lead to suicide.
In the small print on the paper you will see that Lapierre has been a consultant to AstraZeneca and Pfizer.
Maybe Lapierre is another Breckenridge?
The similarities are uncanny!
I wrote to Health Canada earlier today requesting a declaration of interests for all those involved in the Scientific Advisory Panel, in particular the following members:
Committee Members Present: Dr. Yvon Lapierre, Dr. Clive Chamberlain, Dr. Jane Garland, Dr. Paul Links, Dr. Aidan Stokes, Dr. Nicole Thibodeau Health Canada (HC)
Working Group Members:
M. Davis (SAP Secretariat Officer, PB), L. Kelly (BCANS), S. Mithani (BCANS), E. Ormsby (SAP Scientific Advisor, PB), C. Petersen (BCANS), Karen Reynolds (BCANS)
I will keep you posted should I get a response.
