SEROXAT SUFFERERS - 2008 REVIEW PT I

Some highlights from 2008.

January 10th - GSK help heal the 'well'
Not content with supplying Paxil/Seroxat to patients with what they deem as a low level of serotonin in the brain, it seems Glaxo SmithKline are now targeting people who only think they have an illness...hypochondriacs!

Feb 10th - Seroxat safe for adults eh?
The MHRA recently announced that the patient information leaflet on ALL antidepressants here in the UK was going to be reworded. They said that antidepressants could cause suicide in patients... but only if you were 25 or under...

Feb 15th - GlaxoSmithKline Statement - A Closer Look
My response to GSK's statement regarding the airing of the BBC Panorama programme, ‘Secrets of The Drugs Trials’ which was aired on Monday 29th January.

Feb 17th - Benefits outweigh the risks? Not according to this study!
Among adults with moderate to severe major depression in the clinical trials we reviewed, paroxetine was not superior to placebo in terms of overall treatment effectiveness and acceptability. These results were not biased by selective inclusion of published studies.

Feb 18th - Health Minster, Rt Hon Dawn Primarolo
My MP writes to Dawn Primarolo - Minutes after I recieve email, Primarolo's dept visit this blog.

Feb 20th - MHRA - "We see no point in answering questions where you have prejudged the veracity of any answers"
MHRA refuse to answer my questions because they say 'I have prejudged their answers!'

Feb 21 - AN OPEN LETTER OF PROTEST TO GLAXOSMITHKLINE
A petition has been set up online. It's Canada based but you don't need to be a Canadian to sign it.

Feb 26th - Study says antidepressants are ineffective
They are taken by millions of people – but antidepressants such as Prozac and Seroxat are largely a waste of time, research suggests today.

Feb 27th - GSK hits back over 'alarmist' antidepressant analysis
GSK “believe that it has caused unnecessary alarm and concern for patients”.

March 2nd - Lapdap. GlaxoSmithKline and The MHRA
The connection between GlaxoSmithKline's Lapdap and MHRA Chairman Alisdair Breckenridge.

March 4th - Benefits of Seroxat? DoH answer... or do they?
In classic MHRA/GlaxoSmithKline style they answer me - totally avoiding the question

March 6th - MHRA to Let GSK off the Hook
Cast you mind back to BBC TV's Panorama. Shelly Jofre asked MHRA Chairman if criminal charges may be brought against GlaxoSmithKline - he answered 'that is a possibility'

March 7th - Alistair Benbow GSK Please Shut Up!
Is he aware that there were a lot of bereaved folks out there counting on the MHRA to give them a sense of justice. The fact that the MHRA failed should not warrant the smug Benbow spouting “We firmly believe we acted properly and responsibly in first carrying out this important clinical trials programme and then informing the regulatory agencies when we identified a potential increased risk of suicidal thinking and behaviour in patients under 18,”

March 12th - New EDM Tabled Condemning the MHRA
That this House deprecates the gullibility of the Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Agency (MHRA) in assuming that GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) would observe high ethical and scientific standards above its own financial interests in promoting the drug Seroxat...

March 12th - Childrens Health Fund & David Stout of GSK
The Childrens Health Fund is committed to providing health care to the nation’s most medically underserved children and their families through the development and support of innovative primary care medical programs, response to public health crises, and the promotion of guaranteed access to appropriate health care for all children.

One of the Trustees?

GlaxoSmithKline, David M. Stout, President, Pharmaceuticals.

March 14th - Dear Dawn Primarolo...
In a letter sent to me via my MP, Dawn Primarolo fails to answer what the benefit of Seroxat is!

March 18th - A Request to the MHRA
I write to the MHRA and request a meeting.

March 29th - GSK Lawyers target Seroxat campaigner Bob Fiddaman
The following is a message to my readers and also a statement from me that is, in the main, addressed to GlaxoSmithKline's Lawyers, Addleshaw & Goddard and Dr Alistair Benbow, Head of European clinical psychiatry at GSK.

PART II Coming soon.
