I find this astounding.
You'd have to be a hermit to not know who Prince Charles is and an alien if you didn't know that he is slightly eccentric. His stance on alternative medicine was highlighted on this blog back in March. His Duchy Originals company had been told to change the wording of a campaign promoting two herbal medicines, after a regulatory authority ruled claims in the advert were misleading.
Even more odd is Prince Charles complementary medicine charity, The Prince’s Foundation for Integrated Health whom apparently hold investments in oil, gas, pharmaceutical and arms companies.
£112,000 in Artemis UK Special Situations, which includes investments in BP, Shell, GlaxoSmithKline and BAE systems.
The Charities Commision has a downloadable document for Charles’ ‘complementary medicine’ charity that show all the investments.

Alaska Admits It Is Incapable of Protecting Children and Youth in Its Care from Harmful Psychiatric Drugging
Today, responding to the State of Alaska’s admission in PsychRights v. Alaska that it was incapable of protecting the children and youth in its care from improper and harmful psychiatric drugging, the Law Project for Psychiatric Rights (PsychRights®) told the court it must step in.
PsychRights v. Alaska was filed last Fall to halt the State of Alaska’s practice of administering and paying for psychiatric drugs being given children and youth without safeguards being in place to make sure proper decision making occurs. In trying to get PsychRights v. Alaska “thrown out of court” the State admitted it was incapable of protecting the children and youth in its care as follows:
A reading of the Complaint makes obvious that the true subject of plaintiff’s grievances is not the Department, but prescribers of psychotropic pharmaceuticals, the pharmaceutical companies which produce and market them, and the overall culture of pediatric psychiatry. The implication that the Department possesses meaningful authority and control over these matters-or is in any realistic position to administer the relief requested even if the court were to order it-is a fiction.
“The point is the State has the responsibility to properly care for the children and youth in its care regardless of the ‘culture of pediatric psychiatry,’” according Mr. Gottstein. Today’s court filing tells the court, “It is shameful the State is abdicating its responsibility when it should be working to correct the problem.”
In the absence of the State being willing to address the problem without court intervention, the lawsuit seeks to solve it by obtaining a court order prohibiting the psychiatric drugging of children and youth by the State unless and until
(i) evidence-based psychosocial interventions have been exhausted,
(ii) rationally anticipated benefits of psychotropic drug treatment outweigh the risks,
(iii) the person or entity authorizing administration of the drug(s) is fully informed of the risks and potential benefits, and
(iv) close monitoring of, and appropriate means of responding to, treatment emergent effects are in place.
Practically every day brings revelations that pediatric psychopharmacology is the result of illegal drug company actions to improperly influence psychiatrists to prescribe extremely harmful drugs to children and youth, in spite of there being no real evidence of their efficacy. “Rather than meeting its mandate to properly care for and protect these children and youth from harm, the actions of the State are reprehensible,” Mr. Gottstein declared, adding “The State is also trying to hide its complicity by stopping the discovery process.”
The defendants in the lawsuit are the State of Alaska, its Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS), and responsible officials, Sarah Palin, Governor, William Hogan, Commissioner of DHSS, Tammy Sandoval, Director of the Office of Children’s Services (OCS), Steve McComb, Director of the Division of Juvenile Justice (DJJ), Melissa Stone, Director of the Division of Behavioral Health (DBH), Ron Adler, CEO of the Alaska Psychiatric Institute (API), and William Streur Deputy Commissioner and Director of Medicaid. The Law Project for Psychiatric Rights is a public interest law firm devoted to the defense of people facing the horrors of unwarranted forced psychiatric drugging and electroshock. PsychRights is further dedicated to exposing the truth about psychiatric interventions and the courts being misled into ordering people subjected to these brain and body damaging drugs against their will. Extensive information about these dangers, and about the tragic damage caused by electroshock, is available on the PsychRights web site right here.
So I was thinking and talking to others…we need to take action. It’s not clear the governor of Alaska even knows about this legal action so let’s make sure she knows how important it is.

These kind of legal changes can have impact on the rest of the country if successful. Please don’t feel it’s too far away if you’re on the mainland like me.

Deception
I have about a third left of the brilliant novel 'Deception Point' by Dan Brown.

Then allege something far worse.
The object was to give the opponent a chance to choose the lesser of two evils - in this case, the truth.
The trick was exuding confidence, something Gabrielle was not feeling at the moment.

Big interest in heavy drugs

Pharmaceutical companies are beginning to bet on the idea that simply switching a hydrogen atom with a heavier isotope in a currently approved drug could create a better drug. Encouraged by results from clinical trials, companies are snapping up intellectual-property rights on many of the modified drugs.
On 16 March, for example, Concert Pharmaceuticals of Lexington, Massachusetts, reported results of a phase I clinical trial for a version of the antidepressant paroxetine, sold as Seroxat by GlaxoSmithKline and first marketed under that trade name in 1992. Concert's version swaps out one or more of the hydrogen atoms in the paroxetine structure (see 'Drug modifications') for deuterium, a heavier isotope of hydrogen that contains a proton and a neutron, rather than just a proton. The company was testing this deuterated version for treating hot flushes without the side effect of standard paroxetine in which the liver enzyme CYP2D6 is inactivated. Because this enzyme metabolizes many other drugs, inactivating it means it is hard to take other drugs along with paroxetine.

Virgin Media - A Rant
This is just a typical example of a fucked up Britain.
Yesterday I received 5 phone calls from my cable company.
Caller: Hello, this is Virgin Media, can we have your password please?
Fid: Um, sorry, I'm not going to give any Tom, Dick or Harry my password who claims to be from Virgin Media.
Caller: But we need your password to discuss this matter.
Fid: What matter?
Caller: We need your password
Fid: I'm not in the position of giving you my password, you could be anyone, how do I know you are Virgin Media?
Caller: Okay.
**Hangs up.
This happened 5 times... on a Saturday!
So, I call Virgin Media, I have no problem giving them my password if it is I who calls them.
They can confirm that an outside company now makes 'courtesy calls' to Virgin Media customers to remind them that their bill is due.
I ask when my bill is due.
March 10th Sir, they tell me!
18 days away!

The trial of a woman and two men accused of murdering a baby boy in England has been put back to September following a defence application at the Old Bailey, London.
The trial of Tracey Connelly (aged 25), who denies killing her 17-month-old baby Peter on August 3 last year, was switched from June 9 to September 8.
She also denies a charge of allowing or failing to prevent the death at her home in Penshurst Road, Tottenham, north London.
Her partner Steven Barker (aged 31) of the same address, and his brother Jason Owen (aged 35) of Wittersham Road, Bromley, Kent, deny the same charges and will be tried with her.
Peter was pronounced dead at North Middlesex Hospital, north London, where he was taken with injuries.
