Narcolepsy:

Narcolepsy is a neurological disorder caused by the brain's inability to regulate sleep-wake cycles normally. The main features of narcolepsy are excessive daytime sleepiness and cataplexy. The disease is also often associated with sudden sleep attacks, insomnia, dream-like hallucinations, and a condition called sleep paralysis - National Sleep Foundation

Glaxo are in the news again... this time it's their vaccine Pandemrix that's making all the wrong sort of headlines for the British based drug giant.

Latest figures have shown that almost 800 children in Sweden who received the Pandemrix H1N1 swine flu vaccine have been left with the incurable sleep disorder, narcolepsy.

According to Fox News similar findings have been found in Finland, Norway, Ireland and France.

Faced with these alarming figures GSK's chief medical officer, Norman Begg, states, GSK views the issue extremely seriously and is "absolutely committed to getting to the bottom of this", adding, "there is not yet enough data or evidence to suggest a causal link."

Of course not, Norm.

I remember when Swine Flu made the news. There was a huge push, in the UK at least, for people to rush out and get vaccinated. I never really bought into it.

Back in 2009 Switzerland restricted the use of Glaxo's swine flu vaccine, they did so by excluding pregnant women, minors and people over the age of 60. Swissmedic, the Swiss medicines regulator, did not allow it to be used in children because they had "received very little information on it."

Also, in 2009, the German Professional Association of Environmental Medicine (Deutscher Berufsverband der Umweltmediziner – DBU) issued a press release regarding Glaxo's Pandemrix, part of which read:

"Pandemrix poses substantial health risk with respect to mass immunization programs due to the lack of proof of safety."

Back in 2010 I wrote about how Glaxo were under investigation for bribery in Finland. In short, the Chancellor of Justice was investigating if bribery was used in narcolepsy-suspect Pandemrix vaccine trade. The investigation was carried out because two individuals had reported their suspicions to the Chancellor. Investigation targeted the Ministry of Health and THL, National Instute for Health and Welfare. THL has received more than six million euros in 2009 from GlaxoSmithKline. THL has also had a key role in the decision to order Pandemrix to every Finnish inhabitant.

Meantime, the narcolepsy link continues to rear its ugly head in Sweden. Goran Stiernstedt, director for health and social care at the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions, has added much fuel to the fire. Speaking with Fox he told them, "This is a medical tragedy, hundreds of young people have had their lives almost destroyed."

Tamiflu: Yet More Side-Effects

It's being reported that the swine-flu drug, Tamiflu, is under scrutiny as more and more side-effects have been reported to the MHRA. The Daily Star is claiming that 14 new adverse reactions were added to the drug’s profile in November including back, joint and muscle aches, fever, menstrual pain, herpes, sinusitis and earache.

A small price to pay to fend off a killer virus, which was basically a different strain of the flu.

The MHRA, the agency that regulate the drugs you and I take, have claimed that the benefits of taking Tamiflu outweigh any risks, a standard response when their regulation is put into question.

Swiss pharmaceutical giant Roche, who manufacture Tamiflu, are themselves the subject of an investigation regarding claims that they withheld vital data about the effectiveness of Tamiflu from scientists.

The Cochrane Collaboration, an independent watchdog who are not funded by the pharmaceutical industry [unlike the MHRA] have announced that a report, to be published on January 18 shows how their investigation was hindered by Roche’s refusal to provide full clinical data. The Bureau of Investigative Journalism writes:

This claim was made public today by one of the founders of the Cochrane Collaboration at a British Medical Journal conference held in London.

 Other Cochrane reviewers are to reassert this claim in a further article due to be published by the Public Library of Science (PLoS). In the article, three of the Cochrane reviewers write:

‘In December 2009, after we voiced serious concerns in the BMJ about Tamiflu’s alleged ability to reduce compliations, Roche wrote that it was ‘very happy to have its data reviewed by the appropriate authority or individuals’ and publicly pledged to release 10 ‘full study reports’ in the ‘coming days’”. They went on to state that “despite extensive correspondence over the next year and a half Roche refused to provide any more than portions of the clinical study reports.’

The MHRA were recently in the news for failing to respond quickly enough to faulty PIP breast implants. They have also been criticised for sending out information to UK healthcare professionals regarding SSRi withdrawal and, it appears, have informed doctor's of the existence of SSRi withdrawal "specialists" when no such specialists actually exist. Glaxo's Swine Flu Jab Under Investigation

Within weeks of having the Pandemrix jab, Joshua Hadfield began sleeping 18 hours a day and his mother says his personality completely changed.

The Daily Mail reported online yesterday that GlaxoSmithKline's vaccine Pandemrix, given to thousands of children across the UK, may cause the sleep disorder narcolepsy.

The European Medicines Agency [EMA] have ruled that ALL packets of Glaxo's vaccine must now carry a warning about the risk.

Not one's for sticking their necks out, the EMA have put the onus on doctors to weigh up the "risk v benefits" when administering the vaccine.

Now there's a surprise - a medicines watchdog passing the buck!

The Daily Mail article highlights the story of five year old Joshua Hadfield who, within weeks of having the Pandemrix jab, began sleeping 18 hours a day and had a personality change.

Glaxo's medicine causing personality change? Surely not.

Joshua's mum, Caroline, said:

"I believe this link will eventually be confirmed. I’m very angry about it.

"I researched the vaccine carefully before agreeing to let Joshua have it and thought I was protecting him. Now he’s saddled with this for life.

"There should have been more testing before it was rolled out and it should have been destroyed at the first suggestion of any problems."

Swine flu taskforce's links to vaccine giant, Glaxo!

More than half the scientists on the swine flu taskforce advising the Government have ties to drug companies.

Eleven of the 20 members of the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE) have done work for the pharmaceutical industry or are linked to it through their universities.

Many have declared interests in GlaxoSmithKline, the vaccine maker expected to be the biggest beneficiary of the pandemic.

The disclosure of the register of interests comes just days after a health expert branded the swine flu outbreak a 'false pandemic' driven by the drug companies which stood to profit.

The Government is now trying to offload up to £1billion worth of unwanted swine flu vaccine.

I've been reading an interesting article from thecitizen.com where the author claims that the State of New York Division of Cemeteries sent out “Mass Fatality forms” to cemeteries in New York state to collect data about their ability to deal with the high volume of casualties that would occur if their were a flu pandemic or other disaster.

The author has in his possession the letter that was sent to cemeterians

The form letter was dated April 4, 2007.



According to The Citizen one of the questions asked in the letter circulated to cemeterians was:

“Should a prolonged mass fatality disaster or pandemic flu occur in your community would your cemetery be able to provide temporary or permanent internment space for a significant number of disaster or flu deaths in additional to your current burial services?”

Was the swine flu 'pandemic' pre-planned?

Begs the question that if the public didn't wake up to this hoax maybe... just maybe it would have gone to stage two. Perhaps a chemically controlled airborne substance or am I just being suckered in to a conspiracy theory?


In other news the UK Government is considering selling or giving away some of the surplus doses of swine flu vaccine it has stockpiled. It has received 23.9 million doses of vaccine from drug manufacturer GlaxoSmithKline and five million from rival company Baxter.

360 people have died after contracting the "disease" in the UK, including 251 in England, 28 in Wales, 64 in Scotland and 17 in Northern Ireland.

Labour's Paul Flynn (Newport W) said early fears that 65,000 people would die in the UK as a result of the pandemic had "cost the country dearly".

Today's Sun newspaper in the UK runs with the front page headline, 'SWINE FLU, A 'FALSE PANDEMIC' TO SELL VACCINES, EXPERT CLAIMS.

The Sun writes:

CLAIMS swine flu is a "false pandemic" and "a campaign of panic" being used to create a huge market for vaccines are "historically and medically inaccurate", Australia's top medical official says.

Wolfgang Wodarg, head of health at the Council of Europe, has claimed major firms organised a "campaign of panic" to put pressure on the World Health Organisation (WHO) to declare a pandemic

I anticipate that Wolfgang Wodarg will now become the subject of a mud-slinging campaign designed to discredit him.

Do you feel duped?

Swine Flu has made Pharma millions - The UK is now in the process of sending back the vaccine to our friends GlaxoSmithKline - apparently, they ordered too much of it.

Swine flu has, in the main, been diagnosed over the telephone. My son was even told he had it - he was in bed for 24 hours then back at work the next day. It was recommended to him, by the "pandemic hotline", to go out and purchase Tamiflu. Luckily, his dad, [me] knows all too well about pharmaceutical marketing.

Now what if the public would have bought into this whole pandemic? What would the next step have been?

Let's start culling? Far fetched, I know, but I seriously wouldn't put it past them. It would appear that they would do anything to make money.

Of course there will now be denial and shouts of 'conspiracy' - it seems to be pharma's only weapon of defence - that and trying to discredit those that speak out.


Name one person you know that has had swine flu then ask yourself what different symptoms did they have compared to a heavy dose of the normal flu.

Swine flu [H1N1] vaccine is unsuitable for patients with chronic multi-system illnesses. Pandemrix® poses substantial health risk with respect to mass immunization programs due to the lack of proof of safety. Because of the producer’s release from liability by the German Federal Government (BRD), the risk of adverse reactions and/or permanent damage due to the vaccine rests with the patient.

The German Professional Association of Environmental Medicine (DBU) has, in spite of press releases from the BRD, the Paul-Ehrlich-Institute, as well as the vaccine producer’s assurances of safety, serious concerns relating to Pandemrix® (GlaxoSmithKline), the only vaccine which has been approved for mass vaccination by the BRD.

The DBU discusses at this point neither the medical use of immunization in general nor the necessity of such measures in the, up until now, mild course of the swine flu pandemic.

Our criticism is directed only against the pandemic vaccine Pandemrix®.

There exists considerable doubt as to the effectiveness of the vaccine: during the licensing phase, the vaccine tested had a 40% higher portion of virus antigen (5. 25µg) than the vaccine (3.75µg) now being delivered. An unequivocal consensus has not been reached as to whether the vaccination should be given once or twice a season.

There exists considerable doubt concerning the safety of the adjuvanted active amplifier since it is being used for the first time. The vaccine contains 27.4mg AS03, an emulsion of polysorbate, squalene and tocopherol. Sufficient studies are lacking, because in the test phase, only the development of antibody titers was determined as a surrogate criterion, and not any potential adverse reactions.

The producer as well as government agencies have concealed the fact that squalene, if used subcutaneously or intramuscularly is an inflammatory immune activation immunogen, unlike when ingested. (Squalene is, among other things, for example, naturally contained in olive oil.)

Autoimmune diseases can be provoked by squalene; already existing ones can be activated. Squalene has been connected with the emergence of Guillan-Barré Syndrome (GBS) and is now considered a trigger for Gulf War Syndrome (GWS). In animal studies squalene brought on rheumatoid arthritis.

Squalene from food sources is mainly incorporated into membranes in the body. The production of squaline antibodies resulting from an immunization sets off chronic inflammation of the membranes, which explains diseases such as Gulf War Syndrome and also degenerative neurological diseases such as Multiple Sclerosis, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy and Guillan-Barré Syndrome.

The delivery of vaccine in multiple dose ampules is obsolete. In single dose ampules the mercury used for preservation, as in thimerosal – which is included in Pandemrix – would be unnecessary. Also, mercury has been proven to set off autoimmune diseases.

Since the vaccine has not been tested on either young children or pregnant women (Ethics Commission objection), the call to give preference in the first phase of vaccination to precisely this particularly endangered segment of the population represents an improper and totally unjustifiable field test.

The vaccine poses a higher risk than the swine flu itself for patients with environmental illness and for patients with compromised immune systems (e.g. AIDS).

The vaccine producer GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), according to the contract with the BRD, is largely exempt from liability. In case of damage from the vaccination, the affected vaccinee would have to sue the government and therefore the country of Germany, usually a futile exercise.

To avoid the trap of liability, the doctor giving the vaccination must meticulously inform the patient of all risks concerning the vaccination and the vaccine. It is recommended to give this information in the presence of an assistant and to have it be confirmed by the patient’s signature. The explanation should also include the liability features. Also the indication that other, lower risk vaccines are available in Europe and that due to a faulty decision by the German government, they are currently not available to the German population. This information should definitely be included in the explanation.

Switzerland restricts use of GlaxoSmithKline swine flu vaccine.

Psyorg reports:

Switzerland restricted the use of British drugs group GlaxoSmithKline's swine flu vaccine Pandemrix, excluding pregnant women, minors and people over the age of 60.

They add:

The regulatory authority Swissmedic said it had received data on the vaccine for adults, but not for pregnant women and very little data for children.
"For this reason, Swissmedic has not yet authorised the administration of Pandemrix to pregnant women, children under the age of 18 and adults over 60," the regulator said in a statement.

The MHRA have today issued a press release with regard to its Adverse Drug Reaction [ADR] website for reporting suspected side effects to H1N1 [swine flu]

MHRA Chief Executive Kent Woods said, “The MHRA’s first and main priority is to promote and safeguard public health. Even when the balance of benefit and risk is overwhelmingly favourable, as for the swine flu vaccine, we are committed to rapid evaluation of all new information.

“Our robust systems enable real-time safety monitoring and we encourage people to use the Swine Flu Portal to enable quick and effective analysis. We will make this information available to the public regularly on our website.”

To most people, vaccines sound medically harmless. “They’re good for you!” say the doctors and drug companies, but they never really talk about what’s in those vaccines. There’s a good reason for that: If people knew what was really in those vaccines, they would never allow themselves to be injected with them.

Aside from the dangerous ingredients many people already know about (like squalene or thimerosal), one of the key ingredients used in flu vaccines (including the vaccines being prepared for the swine flu pandemic) is the diseased flesh of African Green Monkeys. As this patent readily explains, ingredients used in the vaccine are derived from the kidneys of African Green Monkeys who are first infected with the virus, then allowed to fester the disease, and then are killed so that their diseased organs can be used make vaccine ingredients. This is done in a cruel, inhumane “flesh factory” environment where the monkeys are subjected to a process that includes “incubating said inoculated cell line to permit proliferation of said virus.” Then: “harvesting the virus resulting from step (c); and… (ii) preparing a vaccine from the harvested virus.”

Safety information on oseltamivir (Tamiflu) and zanamivir (Relenza) for pandemic swine influenza A/H1N1

Latest Safety Information from the MHRA

Tamiflu and Relenza are both neuraminidase enzyme inhibitors. They act by inhibiting entry of influenza virus into uninfected cells and preventing the release of recently formed virus particles from infected cells. Tamiflu is given orally (capsules and solution) and Relenza is given by inhalation (Diskhaler system).

Both have substantial experience of use and favourable benefit-risk profiles.

Tamiflu Side effect profile

The most common side effects of Tamiflu are nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, and headache. These may usually occur after the first dose and will usually stop as treatment continues. The frequency of these effects is reduced if Tamiflu is taken with food. More-serious side effects are very rare (see Summary of Product Characteristics for further information).

The product information for Tamiflu lists neuropsychiatric disorders (reports of convulsions and delirium) in the side-effects section. These events were added to the product information as a precautionary measure—a causal association between Tamiflu and the reported events is uncertain.

Drug interactions

Clinically important drug interactions with Tamiflu are unlikely, including those involving competition for renal tubular secretion. However, care should be taken when prescribing Tamiflu for patients who are taking co-excreted medicines with a narrow therapeutic margin (eg, chlorpropamide or methotrexate).

No dose adjustment is required when coadministering with probenecid in patients with normal renal function. Coadministration of probenecid, a potent inhibitor of the anionic pathway of renal tubular secretion, results in an approximate two-fold increase in exposure to the active metabolite of oseltamivir.

Renal impairment

Dose adjustment is recommended for adults with severe renal insufficiency (ie, ≤30 mL/min). Tamiflu is not recommended for patients with a creatinine clearance of ≤10 mL/min or in those undergoing dialysis.

Government virus expert paid £116k by swine flu vaccine manufacturers GlaxoSmithKline

An eagle-eyed reader [Ruth] sent me the following story regarding Professor Sir Roy Anderson.

Anderson, it appears, has more than a vested interest in the current swine flu pandemic.

The Daily Mail reports that Anderson, who sits on the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (Sage), a 20-strong task force drawing up the action plan for the virus, also sits on the board of GlaxoSmithKline,the company selling swine flu vaccines and anti-virals to the NHS.

This bears a striking similarity to Paul Blackburn, Ofsted and the Cervarix Vaccine, also manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline.

Fingers in so many pies eh Glaxo?

Glaxo unmasked: drug firm to make £1bn from swine flu

GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) is to sell the vaccine for up to £6 a dose in Western countries, and the first supplies are due to arrive in Britain in September.

Andrew Witty, GSK's chief executive, refused to apologise for the boost in earnings, pointing out that GSK had invested more than $2.5bn (£1.5bn) in its vaccine development programme over the past few years.

"Swine flu is going to be positive for the performance [of the company], but only because we have put ourselves in a position to do it," he added. "And we have done that by taking very significant risks over a long time, diverting a huge amount of resources to it and doing the research that nobody else has done, so I'm not going to apologise for the fact that the company is going to make a return."
